Projector Setup Guide

1. Setup

  • Carefully remove the projector from the case and place on a level table or stand. Lift using handles when available.
  • Avoid placing the projector on its side or end as the unit may topple.
  • Align the projector squarely with the screen. Additional alignment adjustments will be required after the projector is turned on.

2. Connections

Computer

Before turning on your projector or computer, all cables should be connected as described below.

  • From the cables provided, locate the desired connection cables (VGA or DVI) and the power cord.
  • Connect one end of your VGA or DVI cable to the corresponding input located on the back or side of the projector.
  • Connect the other end of the cable to the corresponding port on the back of your computer or laptop. If you're using a Macintosh computer, a Mac signal adapter (often included) may be required.
  • Verify that you have a good power source and connect the power cord from the projector to the outlet. Try to avoid extension cords if possible.
  • For best results when using a laptop, use the computer's included AC power adapter rather than the laptop battery.

VCR or DVD player

  • From the cables provided, locate the RCA audio and video cables or the S-video cable.
  • Connect one end of the cables to the audio and video or S-video outputs on the back of the VCR/DVD player.
  • Connect the other end of the cables to the projector's audio and video or S-video inputs. The RCA audio and video inputs and outputs are color-coded.

3. Image Adjustments

  • Remove the lens cap and put it in the case for safekeeping.
  • Ensure that all connections are correct and snug.
  • Turn the projector on. Some projectors have two power switches: one located near the power cord, and one on top of the projector. Press and release the power/stand-by button.
  • Once the start-up image is projected on the screen, turn on your computer or VCR/DVD player.
  • If using a laptop computer you may be required to activate the monitor output port. First, locate the function key marked with either a picture of two monitors or the letters "LCD/CRT." On the lower left corner of your keyboard is a key marked "FN." Press and hold this key while you press and release the function key you just located. This should turn on your monitor output port.
  • With the image projected on your screen, adjust the focus and the image size. These adjustments are accomplished with the focus/zoom adjustment rings or power focus/zoom buttons if so equipped.
  • Neither the front nor rear of the projection screen should be exposed to direct light or sunlight.

4. Precautions

  • The projector is equipped with ventilation holes. Don't block or place anything near these vents. Internal heat build up may occur, causing image degradation or damage to the projector. Air from these vents may be very hot, so keep hands and other objects clear.
  • Do not look into the lens when the lamp is on.
  • Shut down the projector by first pressing the stand by/power button and allowing the fan to cool the unit before removing the main power. The fan speed will slow considerably when the unit is cool.
